The essays about progress that I share the most — an index for myself.

Trump Tariffs: The Economic Impact of the Trump Trade War — I don’t like tariffs. Glad Tax Foundation was ready with this analysis. I was also surprised at how small the estimated GDP effect is (0.4%). And I can’t figure out whether “amounting to an average tax increase of more than $800 per US household in 2025” means indirectly paid in higher prices, or just that that’s the average amount collected if you divide by households. Still don’t like tariffs.

Harmonized Tariff Schedule — for when you’re wondering, “wait, what’s the tariff baseline anyway?”

Buddy Bindery & Press — everyone is launching a “press” recently. I wonder why and also I want one too.

Mark Zuckerberg Interviews Patrick Collison and Tyler Cowen on the Nature and Causes of Progress (Bonus) - Conversations with Tyler | Podcast on Spotify — It’s interesting the ways this important interview — only 5 years old! — feels out of date in places. For example, it feels like “affordability” is a niche concern. And mentions of Sticher, iTunes.

 So far, yeah it’s working.
