Boundaries between your actions, your values, and your important.
Generally you can order these from external to internal orientation:
my actions ⇐→ my values ⇐→ my identity (more externally oriented) ⇐---⇒ (more internally oriented)
It’s great when your actions overlap with your values. Conversely it feels bad when you do something that is against your values.
But it’s really bad when your actions sneak into overlapping with your identity. This is careerism, or tribalism.
It’s also not good when your identity sneaks into overlapping with your actions, without sort of filtering through your values first. This is dogmatism, or naïveté.
I think that ideally your identity informs your values which informs your actions. Going the other way is like swimming upstream.
