I find I oscillate between feeling fired up and ambitious, to wanting to live on a quiet farm and tend a garden.
It’s easy to think the options are: Ambition ⇐ vs. ⇒ Contentment But really there’s positive/negative sides to each:
Ambition | Contentment | |
---|---|---|
Positive | Excited to use ones gifts for good | Sustainable work, rest and fulfillment in truth |
Negative | Selfish striving and stress | Complacency and sloth; wasted potential |
Two dangers: getting stuck in the negative row, but also having only one of the columns! It’s hard to stay in the positive row without both.
So, I would like to focus on both positive ambition and positive contentment.
That’s the line many people I admire walked.
