7 to 9pm each day. I’m surprised how much of my life comes down to what I do during these two hours.
- How I feel during this time colors my impression of how the whole day went.
- And I feel really different if I’m working, watching TV, reading a book, or coding.
- The feeling builds over time (multiple nights working, or lots of TV)
I think it’s because this is the window of time that is most frequently free.
Between an office job, exercise, and life maintenance (cooking, cleaning, walking the dog), this is the window most frequently free fo me.
Now my life is pretty simple, but I imagine it’s similar for many people, including parents. This window sets the tone:
- Are you’re exhaustedly scrubbing dishes and folding laundry?
- Are you collapsing on the couch?
- Or is it a brief of window of time with your partner?
And of course a shoutout to all the shift workers who don’t have the luxury/curse of a stable schedule.
